Grønn Puls
“Green Pulse”- Our primary goal is to help small and medium-sized companies accurately report sustainability data to their customers, banks, and eventually the government, while respecting the resources they have available. At the same time, we provide our key partners with high-quality, transparent, and comparable data, which can, over time, offer a competitive advantage across the value chain.
Background
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges the world faces. The business sector plays a central role in reducing emissions, but gathering actual data on purchased goods and services, especially from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), is challenging. The GrønnPuls project seeks to develop innovative solutions to simplify climate reporting and improve data quality so that companies can reduce indirect emissions from the value chain (Scope 3).
Goal
GrønnPuls aims to increase sustainability competence among SMEs and improve data quality on actual emission figures. In this way, we strengthen SMEs’ ability to manage climate emissions and contribute to a more sustainable supply chain. Through the project, we will develop a user-friendly digital tool that complies with reporting requirements and raises awareness of climate impact, as well as encourages more companies to set goals and reduce emissions.
Results and Effects
Why SMEs Matter in Sustainability Efforts?
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) alone do not produce large emissions individually. However, when considered collectively, they account for a significant portion of global emissions, contributing between 50% and 64% of total business sector emissions, according to recent estimates from the OECD and European Commission. With SMEs representing 90% of businesses worldwide, their participation in sustainability initiatives is crucial for achieving global climate goals. Without their active involvement in climate action, it will be nearly impossible to meet targets for reducing emissions and reaching a net-zero future. Engaging SMEs is therefore essential for driving meaningful progress toward a more sustainable world.
